Wolf Manhattan

“Wolf Manhattan is a bedroom producer that, in a non-specific time, lived above a local shop in central New York. Surrounded by his uncle’s record collection, a 4 track and a guitar from the 50s (that belonged to a well-known Rough Trade artist), he spent his days  listening to records, recording and writing songs about heartbreaks, self-doubt, bad decisions, lost dreams, and minimum wage jobs.

To survive a long and inescapable pandemic, the creative mind of João Vieira (x-wife and White Haus) is now built on Wolf Manhattan, his new folk-punk-garage persona, a true escape from the complexities of day-to-day life.

The 13 sharply outlined songs, the warmth of the analogue sound, the musical references from Adam Green to Jonathan Richman, Daniel Johnston to the Velvet Underground and the familiar themes are the perfect (self) relief for an overproduced and saturated world.

These songs are now compiled in a beautiful limited edition gatefold vinyl LP, illustrated by Toby Evans-Jesra (a London artist who did Rough Trade’s “Goat girl’s on all fours” album cover last year), the album also includes a fun board game with four player tokens.

Wolf Manhattan first album was out on 22nd of September 2022. The book (Wolf’s Story) was also available as a limited edition on Stolen books publishers.

The second album was out on April 15th 2024 in digital and vinyl.
